Kenny Hubbard: World Champ & X275 Icon is Movin' On Up

Some of you may have seen some videos floating around the internet of Kenny Hubbard testing his Asian Orange Nova recently. There were rumors flying about regarding whether he was actually making some program changes, and those rumors are true.

I spoke to Kenny this morning and he confirmed with me that he is in fact switching classes. The Nova, which has been a staple in the X275 for what seems like forever will be moving his way on up to the Limited Drag Radial class in 2024.

Kenny and the team have been testing for the last month or so to determine if they have what it takes to be competitive in what is a highly competitive class in LDR. They swapped the blower and took weight off the car, and based on the videos that I saw, it absolutely rips! Anyone that knows Kenny, Little Kenny, Kyla, Billie, Brian, and everyone else involved with that team is well aware of how many passes they make and how often they test.

I asked Kenny why he decided to make the change now after being at the forefront of X275 for years now. He stated that it was time for new personal challenges and also wanted to give teams like White Rice and Milliken a chance to actually win a championship LOL.

Kenny is not the first one to make the exit from X275 and over to LDR though. It seems like just yesterday that we were talking about another X275 Icon, Rob Goss, taking his power and skill set over to LDR to compete. I look for Rob and Kenny to go toe-to-toe yet again in 2024, this time in Limited Drag Radial.

In a tad more than 30 days the season kicks off at Bradenton Motorsports Park with U.S. Street Nationals. This will be the first race that Kenny plans on competing in LDR trim and we will be there covering the event.
