Ground Pounding & Tire Ripping...The PDRA Invades SGMP!

This weekend PDRA (Professional Drag Racers Association) rolls into South Georgia Motorsports Park to put on a hell of a show for the people of the south.

Pro Nitrous World Champion Jason Harris

For those that don’t know, PDRA has been around for almost half a dozen years and has attracted some of the biggest names in the industry. And this weekend is no exception to that. Names like multi-time World Champion Tommy Franklin, No Prep Superstar Lizzy Musi, The Undertaker Tommy Gray, and so many more.

Rippin’ down the track is nothing new for the PDRA though and putting on one hell of a show is not either. I have personally seen some of the wildest passes, best burndowns, and side by side action when it comes to the PDRA. In fact, this is the first time that we have had the chance to be at a PDRA event in almost two years. The moment we walked on the property though, it was like putting on a pair of comfortable shoes.

Yesterday was a test day, if that is any indicator of the racing we are going to see this weekend, you’d better pull those straps tight, because these men and women aren’t pulling any punches. The only thing hotter than the sun this weekend is the tune-ups that are loaded in. Whether it be nitrous guzzling, 900+ cubic inch monsters, or blower and turbo pavement ripping rides, the sure thing is that it will be a can’t miss two days.

Let us not forget though, PDRA is a lot more than just pro mods though. There are a host of other classes that range from Jr. Dragsters, Bikes, T/S, T/D, Outlaw 632, and the N/A beasts of Extreme Pro Stock. All of which I saw testing on Thursday with the same type of results the pro mods had. Quick on the tree and even quicker on the boards.

Pro Boost Superstar Melanie Salemi

Something for everyone is a term that we use a lot in drag racing, and that is because it’s continues to hold true. PDRA offers classes for kids and adults alike. These are some of the most approachable and friendly drivers too. Fans are always welcome in the pits to meet drivers and learn about these machines.

Extreme Pro Stock/Mountain Motor Pro Stock Star John Montecalvo

If you are reading this and you aren’t at a racetrack, you are certainly missing out on what makes life great. Family, friendship, and pure unadulterated speed. Get in the car and make your way to SGMP, and if you can’t make it here, you need to find your closest track and get there!!
