Cruz Pedregon welcomes Tommy DeLago, parts ways with Aaron Brooks.

We received the word this morning that the Snap-On Tools backed Toyota Funny Car that is owned and driven by 2x World Champion Cruz Pedregon has parted ways with tuner Aaron Brooks. Tommy DeLago will be joining the team as the new crew chief.

Cruz, who is a 2x NHRA World Champion, has seen his fair share of highs and lows this season. The high being a win at the Charlotte 4 Wide race, and the lows being the termination of multiple funny car bodies this season. It certainly has not been an easy season for the Snap-On team, who currently sit in 12th place, 50 points behind Bob Tasca for 10th place. There are only two more races before the Countdown to the Championship begins.

Cruz made the decision and stated "We are just going in a different direction. We wish Aaron the best in all of his future endeavors." Tommy DeLago, who was previously the crew chief for Alexis DeJoria before her retirement, along with working with the Shawn Langdon driven Funny Car earlier this season. He previously won a Funny Car Championship with Matt Hagan.  Cruz went on to state “Tommy has one of the most impressive resumes in the sport and we believe he can help take our Snap-on Funny Car to the Countdown to the Championship playoffs. His championship-winning experience will be a tremendous asset to our program.”

Tommy brings a ton of experience and knowledge to the team. Not only is he a great tuner, he is also a fellow racer, who has a competitive car over in the NMCA series.  A fresh way of looking at things may be just what the team needs moving forward.

Look for Tommy, Cruz, Caleb, and the rest of the Snap-On team to be on hyper-focus for the next stop on the NHRA tour. Brainerd, Minnesota and the zoo is the next stop for the team, with their sights set solely on making it into the countdown.
